Faculty and Staff
Our world-class faculty specialize in a wide range of music disciplines, including performance, composition, conducting, music theory, and musicology. Comprised of five full-time and 25 adjunct members, the faculty are professionally active regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Our ensembles are open to any Lafayette student regardless of major, and many students participate in several ensembles at the same time. The ensembles perform music from all time periods and all areas of the world, and most are available as 1/4-credit courses.
We offer lessons in most orchestral and band instruments as well as piano, guitar, and a variety of folk instruments. Lessons are available to all Lafayette students, faculty, and staff and are ideal for all levels, beginner through advanced.
We offer a wide range of courses, from Introductory subjects to advanced topics in music theory and musicology. Many of our courses satisfy the College's requirements for the Common Course of Study. Music courses are open to any Lafayette student.
The Major and Minor
The Department of Music offers a Major (B.A) and a Minor. Our curriculum is ideal for double majors or for preparing students for graduate study in certain areas. Follow the link below for more information.
