Clarinet performanceThe Department of Music sponsors 11 ensembles which span a wide range of musical styles. All of our ensembles are open to students in any major.

Our ensembles are supportive communities which focus on providing students with meaningful musical experiences, a strong sense of mutual support and teamwork, as well as a profound understanding of the cultural contexts in which the music they perform was created.

Most of our ensembles are 1/4-credit courses. In most cases there is a seating-placement audition required, and only two of our ensembles are competitive (Chamber Singers and Contemporary Music Ensemble). Several of our ensembles are ideal for beginning-level musicians as well as advanced performers. The majority of our ensembles perform one end-of-semester concert: Pep Band performs at all home football and basketball games, and other ensembles often perform at other events on and off campus.

For the most part, our ensembles all rehearse at different times–this means that one can participate in as many ensembles as their schedule allows. In fact, many of our students participate in as many as five or even six ensembles in a semester.

The menu to the right lists all of our current ensembles. Please visit their pages to learn more about each ensemble. Many of them have their own website as well.

Private Lessons are available on most instruments as well. Please follow the link to the right for more information.
